During the manufacturing process to create this type of activated carbon the material is impregnated by being soaked in a special solution which aims to capture a specific type of pollutant, be it an additive, acid, base or even metallic salts. This tailored type of activated carbon makes it useful for targeting specific chemicals in a way that other kinds of activated carbon cannot.
It boasts a wide range of applications such as the treatment of flue gasses from coal power plants to reduce the amount of air pollution. Many of our customers use our impregnated activated carbon for the treatment of bacterial growth in both air and water systems as it can be impregnated with copper salts which have antimicrobial properties. In chemical settings, the carbon can be impregnated to remove specific acid gasses, amines, sulfides, aldehydes, mercury and arsine.
The uses of impregnated activated carbon are endless as it can be used to target specific types of purification process. This makes it highly useful across a range of sectors when processes need to be precisely tailored to the requirements of the task.
Regular activated carbon can filter bacteria, protozoa and even viruses with its small pore structure, but activated carbon that has been impregnated with certain metallic salts can inhibit bacterial growth even further which makes it useful in water filtration systems.
Adsorption rates are boosted during the process of impregnation as it can alter the structure of pores and the surface becomes more capable of interacting with molecules which increases its overall purification capabilities.
