Acid-Washed Activated Carbon

We produce four types of acid-washed activated carbon for our customers as it has a wide variety of applications. It is a specially created product which has been soaked in acid in order to boost the adsorptive qualities and provide superior levels of purification. Acid-washed activated carbon is created by soaking pre-prepared activated carbon from wood, coal or coconut shells in an acidic solution.

We use either sulfuric or hydrochloric acid to wash out activated carbon and during this process any impurities, unwanted inorganic materials and ash are removed from the pores. We then rinse and dry the product and package it ready to ship to our customers. This acid washing process makes our product much more efficient and is used by industries that need very high levels of purity for their varied processes.

There are numerous benefits of using acid-washed activated carbon over other types. The higher levels of purity achieved means the ash content is lower as well as the presence of impurities and metal salts. This means it can be used with confidence for applications where those unwanted particles would otherwise have interfered with the final purification result.
